I have a 1200 watt sony xplod 2/1 amp powering 2 sony xplod 12 inch subs. I have a 1994 acura integra, brand new battery, brand new amp. The amp is turned up half way, so I’m running 600 peak watts when its in its prime. It killed my battery, and the amp never recharged it. I got a new battery, and the same thing happened again, then they checked my alternator (brand new) and the amp ruined that too, thats why it wont charge any of my batteries. So now I’m getting a new alternator and a new battery. Would a capacitor save my battery and my amp? Everybody says thats what I need. But i’ve read that cheap ones actually kill your battery, if they aren’t fully charged when you shut off the car, it continues to take power from your battery until it is. But lets say I get a good one, will it fix the problem? What exactly is a capacitor? please help, thanks in advance
Also my friend has a 1995 saturn sc1, old battery, old alternator, same 1200 watt amp (turned up higher than mine) and his subs are 12 inch also, but newer and more watts. He’s been bumping his system at full power for over a year, no problem, he’s never ever needed a capacitor. Me? I have my system for 5 days and everythings gone haywire. Whats the deal, why do I need a capacitor but he doesn’t need crap? He’s running it straight from his battery with no problem, I do that and now I have 2 dead batteries and a brand new alternator that doesn’t charge anymore. And I’ve ran previous (although less powered) systems on previous cars (all of them small 4 cylinders) straight from the battery with no problem what so ever. I dont understand
I’m pretty sure the amp remote is hooked up to the amp remote wire. Lets say though I hooked it up wrong and its hooked up to the antennae wire? Would that kill the battery? Also when I turn the car off, the power light on the amp is never on, so I’m pretty sure its not taking power from the battery when the car is off. Can it still take power if the amp power light isn’t on or not?
Its a brand new battery, and alternator, and I’m almost certain everything is wired correctly. Only thing I can think of is running a 1200 watt amp may drain your battery alot quicker than a standard alternator can recharge it
when I get the car back i’m putting in 2AWG ground wires, at least a 1.5 farad capacitor, and if that doesn’t do the trick, a battery meant for car audio. If all that doesn’t work I’m killing myself. not seriously, but you get it.

I know that Sony isn’t the "best" out there…but it’s what I can afford and it’s decent. I’m trying to complete my whole system with sony xplod, I already have the speakers, the deck, and the two subs as mentioned in the question. Just need an amp and a capacitor.

I have a 1992 Toyota Celica GT with a JVC KD-S5050 Head-unit, and am not sure what the best amp and wiring set up I should use is.

I have two JBL Audio ones too but I have to repair the connections on one, I am basically trying to figure out what amp people are suggesting for two 1200 watt 12" subs because the JBL’s are the same power however by giving details of the current one it should speed things up.

i hv pioneer’s dvd/cd player i hv separate amplifier for my speaker 350 watts (sony) ..
i even hv equalizer……… but i m not satisfied up from the bass output from woofer it even distorts sometime ( help me i hv everything new except for the amplifier That is 2nd hand ((( … please tell me wat is the prob …?… but it even giv good bass in sum songs ….
